Danny Walsh

Dan got his first taste of house music at Fat Sam's legendary Under 18's Rope Club gave him his first experience of dance music on a big system. Tracks like Numero Uno, Black Box etc had a whole generation prepped for the arrival of the Rhumba Club in 1991.
After finally finding his clubbing feet in the early days of the Rhumba Club and seeing the influence Zammo had on people he decided to get a set of decks like most did back then. He picked up a set of decks and mixer from Alan Livie and the education began.
Dj's like Masters At Work, Roger Sanchez, The Basement Boys, Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries etc ensured I was a keen follower of the US Garage and Soulful side of house music since the early 90's.
Through regularly drinking in the Parlimentary Bar managed to pick up the odd guest slot here and there (Fat Sams, The Purple Rooms etc) and a residency in the CulDeSac. After a while there felt the frustrating side of Dundee's clubbing politics first hand and hung up my headphones.
Until bumping into BaxterParkSunbather once again he'd been experimenting with the digital side of djing. With no desire to get back djing he had a chat with BPS about how good it would be to start a revival night with the old Rhumba Club crowd. BPS unveiled plans to start up Going Back To Our Roots with Dean Nelson and John Burns and asked if he would like to play. There was no hesitation and the headphones were dusted off, the vinyl dug out and all of the past frustrations were forgotten about and Going Back To Our Roots was born.
I'm now a resident at the Roots nights playing Old Skool for the main room and Soulful House in the Bar/Loft.
